The Islamic Education (PAI) Study Program of the Faculty of Tarbiyah, UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, held a community service activity through the handover of a book titled “Remaja dan Toleransi Beragama: Sebuah Upaya Membangun Generasi yang Moderat” to teachers of SMKN 6 Surakarta. The event took place on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in the meeting room of SMKN 6 Surakarta. The program was part of the lecturers’ community engagement initiative aimed at strengthening religious moderation values in educational institutions.

The activity was carried out by PAI lecturers: Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Munadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Kholis Firmansyah, S.H.I., M.S.I., and Mayana Ratih Permatasari, M.S.I. The participants consisted of teachers of SMKN 6 Surakarta who had previously taken part in a book-writing training program facilitated by the PAI lecturers. The book presented during the event was one of the tangible outcomes of the mentoring process, reflecting the teachers’ commitment to promoting religious tolerance among students.

In her remarks, the Principal of SMKN 6 Surakarta, Dwi Titik Irdiyanti, S.Si., M.Pd., expressed her appreciation and happiness for the collaboration. She stated that the teachers greatly benefited from the book-writing training conducted by the PAI lecturers of UIN Surakarta, especially since the training successfully resulted in a published book. She also expressed hope that similar programs could be conducted again in the future to further enhance teachers’ professional competence. Beyond the ceremonial handover, the activity emphasized the importance of understanding religious moderation for both teachers and students. In the school context, religious moderation plays a crucial role in shaping inclusive attitudes, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among individuals from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. Vocational school students, who are being prepared to enter the workforce and broader society, need strong foundations in tolerance and balanced religious understanding.

This effort is closely related to the four key indicators of religious moderation: national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and accommodation of local culture. Through this program, teachers are expected to integrate these values into learning activities, classroom interactions, and school culture. In the long term, such initiatives contribute to building a moderate, open-minded, and socially responsible young generation.
